Traditional Chinese Medicine
Qi is the driving force of everything, it is the energy that flows in and around us naturally. Qi flows through meridians which are like energy highways in the body. Each meridian is tied to a specific organ and contains a set amount of points which all have different functions. When the body undergoes stress, whether physical or mental, the qi becomes unbalanced and blockages occur along the meridians. Organ systems that should work in harmony become out of sync with each other which cause secondary conditions such as pain, fatigue, depression, anxiety, weight loss, etc. Acupuncture is the practice of using needles to manipulate the qi within the body, allowing the meridians to flow freely so that the body can heal itself naturally. Acupuncture can treat many issues, book an appointment to find out more!

Stress is typically the root cause of most issues. Stress can be physical such as trauma, tension, pressure or overworking the body, or it can be mental such as emotional issues, anxiety, depression, or over coming difficult times in life. Our bodies try to counter stress by the release of different hormones, however when the stress becomes to great and we feel defeated the bodies response is to store fat and suppress the immune system. Acupuncture helps to calm the central nervous system and stimulate the endocrine system and immune system allowing the release of endorphins and hormones to promote healing.

Pain in Traditional Chinese Medicine is described typically as either stagnation of qi and blood or a blockage. Acupuncture works on helping relieve the tensions that are built up from trauma by stimulating the central nervous system allowing deep relaxation, and the release of endorphins in the body. Electric stimulation can be given alongside acupuncture to help stimulate the bodies metabolism and help with joint issues, tears or pain. Cupping is also given during treatment to help break the stagnant lactic acid that builds up in muscle groups and help with energy flow.

Weight Loss
When it comes to cosmetic Acupuncture treatments such as Weight loss, Acupuncturists look at what is in excess or deficiency. Weight loss treatments focus on stimulating the endocrine and lymphatic system of the body, allowing the release of hormones and uptake of water metabolism. Acupuncture also focuses on the Digestive system, aiding in food metabolism and energy production. Another aspect we look at is helping ease the pain of sore muscles by alleviating the acid buildup left after strenuous exercise.
