GOT QUESTIONS? HOW CAN WE HELP?
Joints must move in order to stay healthy. No matter what type of Doctor you are, you gauge the health of a joint by its range of motion and the first step of joint rehabilitation is to restore the range of motion. This is why a knee is already put into motion even before the patient wakes up from most knee surgeries. Joint motion enables several necessary functions to take place:
- Lubrication – with synovial fluid that is rich in hyaluronic acid
- Rehydration of the disc to maintain proper disc height and prevent disc desiccation
- Joints do not have arteries and veins for the most part. Yet, nutrients must be delivered to the cells and waste products must be removed. This is accomplished by a physiological pumping mechanism that occurs during motion of the joint.
